My Vagina is My Happy Place

Greetings Family! I pray that you are feeling loved, rested, light and joyful!

These past few months have been filled with so many things.  Life is lifing, as they say! And some moments all I can do is breathe, drink some water, and sit still.  It is in these moments that I am reminded that I am blessed.  Blessed to be alive, blessed to be in this body, blessed to have an open heart and blessed to have a vagina!

Quick story - recently I went thru a breakup from a man that I have known and loved for over 30 years.  He is a soul tie for me and honestly the best sex of my life!  Our connection is deep and our relationship has had so many ups and downs.  So we broke up and it was traumatic! The break-up happened while my grown children were watching.  My friends and family showed up for me and supported me along the way. But I felt humiliated, exhausted, sad, angry and at moments incredibly annoyed!  Once again I had failed at love!

While all this was occurring, I still had to go to work, continue to handle my household, and make plans for my upcoming retreat.  Five days post-break up I had to take a work trip to New Mexico and when the plane landed I had a full-blown panic attack.  I couldn’t walk off the plane for almost 20 minutes. The flight attendants offered me physical, emotional and medical support and finally I was able to stand and walk to baggage claim.  I gathered myself and my luggage and went to my hotel.  I showered and settled into the bed in my hotel room.

Instead of eating sweets or calling a friend to talk, I choose to masturbate.  I knew that my body and my spirit needed a recharge and having an orgasm felt the most easy and natural way to do that.  So I laid there and played with myself!

It was sweet, pleasurable and allowed me to center my energy and feel pleasure.  Even in the midst of life’s chaos, I choose pleasure.  And so can you! Pleasure is always available!

This is what I mean when I invite folks to center pleasure within their lives!

Centering pleasure doesn't mean we are not dealing with challenging, traumatic or scary experiences.  Centering pleasure doesn't mean that everything is fixed or that everything will be okay.  Centering pleasure means we value our birthright to live as full human beings!  Centering pleasure means we claim or reclaim our bodies as places of sexual pleasure, sexual freedom and sexual choice and liberation. Centering pleasure is a choice.  One that is always available.

Having a clitoris is such a blessing!  Clit’s have over 10,000 nerve endings! It is the highest concentration of nerves within the female body.  And it’s sole purpose is to experience sensation.

Our bodies were designed to experience pleasure, that is a scientific fact.

With all the negative connotations targeting the female body and the high rates of sexual assault and trauma, it makes sense that so many women struggle with this area of their lives.

I wonder—where did you learn about your vagina?  Who taught you about it’s magic?  And were these lessons rooted in a belief that every woman is orgasmic and should live a life with full sexual pleasure and radical freedom?  Were these lessons rooted in fear, patriarchy, religious or family values, and capitalism? Who taught you? And how did these lessons shape and impact your sexual life?  Have they served you? Or are you seeking more? More arousal, more release, more intimacy, more wetness, more breath, more juicyness, more moans, more screams, more pleasure….
